Photos from the last few months

Hello friends! It’s been a few months since my last update and while there was a bit of a lull in my photographing, I felt it was time for an update. A number of these photos are from a recent trip to Europe I took with my friends Gi and Jay. It was a road trip through some of the most picturesque scenery any of us had ever seen. The trip probably deserves a post of it’s own, but for now I hope you enjoy these photos!

Looking south along Melbourne Beach at a thunderstorm in the days before Hurricane Dorian. It was a tense few days watching the Category 5 storm move slowly towards Florida while it decimated the northern islands of the Bahamas.

Morning in the Swiss Alps. One of the most picturesque places I’ve ever seen. We had mistakenly booked this Airbnb which was actually nowhere close to where we wanted to go. Running out of time and unable to get a refund we decided to go with it. Getting there meant winding up this mountain on tiny two lane roads barely wide enough for one car. Seeing the view from the house, I knew the sunrise would be nothing short of amazing, so I set an alarm and woke up early to see it.

Ian checks on the health of one of his beehives. He has cultivated these hives from feral swarms in the area and takes quite a lot of care to make sure the bees are healthy and happy, only taking excess honey they do not need for their own survival.

Sunlight shines past one of the peaks in the Italian Dolomites. There was a lovely hiking area here at the base of the mountains with an intricate trail system where you could take anything from short day hikes to multi-day treks.

Flying west towards Portland, Oregon on a dark and quiet night. Here you can see the reflection of my first officer alongside the galactic center of the milky way. Even flying over the US with all of its brightly lit cities, on moonless nights it’s pretty easy to get views like this of the stars.

The town of Brasov, Romania which sits nestled into the Carpathian Mountains. I visited my friend Jules here and she showed me the city and some of its history.

I’ve wanted to try a few different portrait ideas lately and this was one of them. I used a large softbox as the background and put a second fill light on the model which illuminated just a bit of detail in her face.

A couple kisses in the hallway at the BMW Welt factory in Munich, Germany. This was a beautiful and intricate building filled with contrasts of light and shadow. And there were some BMW’s there too.
